Garrett Rank, of Elmira, Ont., finished in a tie for 11th at the Australian Master of the Amateurs tournament in Melbourne, Australia.
The 25-year-old, Team Canada member posted rounds of 68-70-73-79 over four days on Royal Melbourne’s prestigious West Course that has hosted the President's Cup. Rank’s 2-over par, 290 total, left him 11 strokes behind Viraat Badhwar, of Australia, for the overall title.
Fellow Canadian, David Rose, of West Vancouver, B.C., carded rounds of 73-77-71-78 and finished in a tie for 29th. As a duo, Rank and Rose finished fourth overall in the team contingent. Team Australia and Team USA tied for top spot.
Both Canadians are set to play the Australian Men’s Amateur Championship January 15-20 at the Commonwealth and Woodlands Golf Courses in Melbourne.
